How to Boycott Dragon: Difficult but not impossible

This article will discuss the hurdles and the techniques we will do to boycott China.

So, during this pandemic Covid-19 situation China was on the back foot. Still, it controlled Corona in its region, and India began facing the pandemic. China tried to require control of the Indian territory by claiming China’s province. There has been no fixed border since 1962, so it’s always a headache for Indian soldiers. Since then, Ladakh has been in the headlines after 5000 Chinese troops entered Indian territory.

  • How did Chinese troops enter Ladakh, and what’s the Indian Government doing about the entire situation?
  • Can Indians help the Government in defeating the Chinese by boycotting their products?
  • Is it this easy?
  • Can Indians defeat China by ‘vocal for local’ formulae?
  • Can India’s wallet power defeat China’s Bullet power?

All questions will be answered during this blog, but you’ve got to read the whole blog.

If Indians boycott Chinese products at present, how badly will the Chinese economy be affected?

Education reformist Sonam Wangchuk asked us to boycott Chinese software for a week and hardware for a year. Sonam Wangchuk inspires Amir Khan’s character in 3 Idiots (Phunsuk Wangdu). Sonam has done a remarkable job in Leh-Ladakh. Mr Inspiration Sonam believes China is waging war against India to divert attention from internal unrest and economic issues. If Indians boycott Chinese products, it’ll severely affect the Chinese economy, leading to a change in Government. Over 5000 Chinese troops have entered Galwan Valley, locking horns with Indian soldiers. Following this, many nationalists started boycotting Chinese products. The same people demand another strike with their mindset if border tensions with China escalate. But during this case, with a particular sort of confrontation, they need to delete Chinese apps from smartphones. The people of India salute and respect Sonam Wangchuk, and we know that our Army can retaliate strongly when the days come.

We respect Sonam’s opinion but want to inspect if boycotting Chinese products will backfire on the Indian economy or not.

We need to know the dynamics of the current Indian economy before boycotting anything. Only then can we plan to defeat China’s global strategy. But deleting Chinese apps will lead us nowhere. “Bullet power vs Indian Wallet power” is a provocative slogan. Didn’t Mr Sonam say if India’s 1.3 Billion population boycotts Chinese products, it’ll teach China a lesson? I agree, but we’d like correct planning for this with a robust determination.

Some Facts we’d like to understand before planning an action:

  • We’d like to understand that India’s share in Chinese exports is merely 3%. Even if we altogether boycott Chinese products, it won’t affect them much. On the other hand, the Indian economy is hugely hooked on China. India’s most significant import comes from China which stands at $70 Billion. China is additionally the third largest export destination for India. India exports goods worth $ 16 billion to China. If China retaliates and boycotts us, 67% of drugs and 60% of electronic imports will be affected, and our businesses will suffer badly.
  • In 2019, the Chinese GDP was five times India’s. This massive GDP isn’t just from selling firecrackers and cheap toys to India! Let’s assume that we’ve brought down the TikTok ratings to 1. However, we’ve not been ready to do this also But what’s the utilisation of such “patriotic” acts when the foremost successful smartphone brand in India is Chinese? It is impossible to seek out a smartphone which isn’t partially or fully manufactured in China. We couldn’t find an alternative to Tik Tok in Mitron because it clothed to be a Pakistani app. Google Play Store even banned it over privacy issues.
  • Indians (WE), we’d like to figure hard-on Vocal for Local! Let’s leave aside TikTok Apps that are Chinese or have Chinese investments. How many of them will you uninstall? Big Basket, Byju’s, Delivery Apps, and Hike are among many apps with Chinese funding. While India was busy giving loans to people like Nirav Modi, China was funding promising Indian startups with an estimated over $4 Billion investment. China finances almost 2/3 of Indian startups.
  • Boycotting Chinese products during this scenario will yield no concrete results. The relevant question should be raised is: Why is China funding Indian startups once we have schemes like Make in India and Startup India? But in fact, questioning Govt late is way more dangerous than Corona!

Solutions to beat the Chinese addiction in our Day-to-day Life?

We must understand and accept some bitter truths to fight hard and increase our success rate.

  • We will adopt some necessary measures as China is dominating the planet. It’s already using many countries as economic colonies for its motives. We need to disengage with China and diversify our imports slowly. We want to bring down $70 Billion in imports from China, especially in sectors like automobile, where China has made considerable investments in India.
  • We must accept China’s trade brilliance and learn from its success story. India ranks 63rd in simple doing business, while China ranks 31st. China is much before India in the Global Competitiveness report. China ranks 14th in Global Innovation Index, while India ranks 52nd.
  • India has the third-largest military budget after the US and China. Even after 70 years, we mainly import weapons! While the US and China ingenuously make their weapons and export them to several countries. If we will reach the moon, why can’t we make fighter jets, bulletproof jackets, rifles etc.? If we privatise the defence sector, we will win the battle.
  • India should become an alternative to China rather than becoming its pirated copy. China doesn’t have labour rights nor respect given to dissent. We should not replicate these norms in our country. India must become the Democratic alternative to China, and companies will only shift to India.
  • India did not lure quite 1000 American firms which left China after the pandemic started. Most of those companies chose Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia. Few came to India. It shows that India’s reputation in the international market has worsened. Otherwise, India has all the favourable conditions to become China’s global competitor but is failing to try to do so.
  • Thanks to the downfall in the economy, we’ve to accept that making in India was initially not a success. Still, it is slowly taking up and shaping itself. Analyse how to make it a Made in India brand, as It will help us in structuring better policies in future.
  • If you’ve deleted TikTok, also specialise in these questions! While researching for this episode, some exciting facts came alongside one side, and we are saying Boycott China. Still, we forget that there are many things that we will export to China, like Art and Culture. Check out Dangal and Secret Superstar. Just these two films of Amir Khan did 2000 Crore business in China. There are many other things during which India is often the planet exporter and may export to China also. Still, these headline-grabbing lines, ‘Boycott China,’ don’t fulfil any purpose in the long run. The reality is that most folks are using Chinese mobile phones and products.

The question isn’t how to boycott Chinese products but how to become independent and competitive.

Consider how this intrusion happened and why nobody answered the above core issues.
